Document Imaging & Indexing
What is Document Imaging?
Document imaging is the conversion of paper documents into electronic images on your computer. Once on your desktop, these documents can be retrieved effortlessly in seconds.
Why Document Imaging?
Thousands of organizations around the world use document imaging every day instead of paper filing systems. The reasons for this change towards a paperless office are simple:
• Saves storage space (over 10,000 pages can be stored on one CD)
• Manages records easily
• Finds documents quickly
• Makes images centrally available
• Eliminates need for file cabinets
• More versatile than microfilm and other manual archiving systems
High Volume Archiving
Scan your old drawings for easy storage and retrieval.
Using software designed the plans can be de-speckled, skewed and renamed for easy recognition. Drawings can be scanned from dyeline paper, plain paper and tracing paper, drawings will be returned so you can decide when they need to be discarded. Drawings can be scanned at 600 dpi which means approx 500 A1 scans can fit onto a
standard CD Rom.
Now one is able to scan their drawings, save them on CD and when it comes
time to modify or retrieve, it's just a button click away on your computer.
We therefore propose converting your existing paper drawings to digital
format, which will give you the following advantages:
• Better management and control
• Reduced use of paper reproduction
• No lost drawings
• Reduced storage costs
• Improved workflow
• No deterioration quality

What Does it Involve? (see components of Document Imaging System
The steps necessary to introduce document imaging are simple.
• First the documents are scanned into the system.
• The document imaging system stores them on the hard drive or other storage media such as CDs.
• The documents are then indexed electronically.
• When a person later wants to read a document, they use the retrieval tools available in the document imaging system. Which documents can be read and what actions performed on these documents is dependent on the access provided by the document imaging system.
• Consultancy, training and advisory services
